About Us

The Lesotho Meteorological Services (LMS) is the national meteorological agency of the Kingdom of Lesotho. LMS provides weather and climate information, forecasts, warnings, advisories, and related services that support the protection of life and property, strengthen resilience, and promote sustainable socio-economic development.

Serving sectors such as agriculture, transport, disaster risk management, water, aviation, and public safety, LMS plays a central role in helping the nation prepare for and respond to weather and climate variability. Through continuous observation, analysis, forecasting, and communication, LMS works to ensure that decision-makers, institutions, and communities have access to timely and reliable meteorological information.

Since its establishment in 1974, LMS has continued to evolve in line with national priorities and international meteorological standards, supporting Lesotho’s efforts in early warning, climate services, and national development.
